Description:
An apparent uncirculated banknote from India. This is the 1960s five rupees banknote issued by the Reserve Bank of India. The note depicts the image of the Lion Capital of Ashok Pillar to the right of the front. The note is green, blue, and light brown in color over multi-colored underprint. The back of the note, which has the same color scheme as the front and displays the image of six antelopes in a field with a circle in the center having the image of a tiger and a palm tree. The note also displays the denomination in eight different languages. The note has a water mark depicting the Lion Capital of Ashok Pillar as well as a solid security thread. The front is in English with the signature of HVV Iyengar dating the note to the years 1957-1962. This particular note has the serial number V over 3 940901 which is displayed in black in the bottom right corner of the front. The banknote is in uncirculated condition with pinholes from staples close to the left edge and hence our grade of Apparent Uncirculated. A nice banknote to add to your collection. Condition:
I would grade the banknote as apparent uncirculated. The note is clean with no staining. The note has no graffiti, no tears, and no splits. IT retains all of its original crispiness, stiffness, and sheen. Its edges are intact with no roughness and its corners are intact fully squared with no apparent rounding. The note has several pinholes along the left edge which obviously resulted from the removal of staples and hence our grade of Apparent Uncirculated instead of Uncirculated. The note is well centered and nicely margined. A nice note to add to your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information.
